What kind of crossing this is

A crossing in the Mostyska district of Lviv region, on the M-11 out of Lviv; on the Polish side lie Medyka and, beyond it, Przemyśl. Shehyni handles the widest mix of traffic of any post on the Polish direction: cars, scheduled coaches, lorries and pedestrians all at once. The pedestrian crossing is a story of its own — it is used daily by people heading into Przemyśl for a train or for business without a car.

That mixture is what makes Shehyni distinctive. On working days the queue here almost never clears completely, and the peak lands on Thursday and Friday, when the weekend exodus adds to the usual flow. Sunday and Monday, by contrast, are markedly calmer — unusual for a large post, since most crossings are at their worst on Sunday evening.

So Shehyni should be chosen by day rather than by hour. Sunday and Monday morning are the best windows, and the difference from Thursday is very pronounced. On peak days there are two real alternatives nearby: Krakivets, with its access to the A4 motorway, and the less familiar Hrushiv. If you are crossing on foot, however, there is effectively no alternative — pedestrian traffic for the whole direction converges here, so time of day is your only lever.
